Roger Read

Roger is a highly experienced management consultant and interim manager with a reputation for delivering complex projects for CFO's. Typically his projects are multi-faceted with system, process, organisation, people and geographic dimensions, having complex stakeholder challenges. As a qualified CIMA accountant, he has specialist knowledge of shared services and outsourcing, costing, profit improvement programmes, financial reporting and control.

Roger has a track record of over 20 years international consulting experience gained in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America. He was a management consultancy Director with PwC and latterly an Associate Partner with IBM Business Consulting Services. In both organisations he worked out of the UK Financial Services practice.

Roger brings practical hands-on experience to his clients along with an insight into the art of the possible. His assignments include:

  • As an interim manager, Head of Finance and Actuarial Change for a UK Life and Pensions Company, responsible for delivering a 15m change portfolio focused on off-shoring, upgrading planning and reporting, improving reporting integrity and accelerating reporting timescales
  • Leading two strategic back-office cost reviews. One for a Bank and one for a Life and Pensions Company
  • Managing a scheme to compensate policyholders, resulting from a mis-selling case.
  • For a North American based reinsurance company, led a programme to integrate an acquired French subsidiary
  • For a Mutual Insurance Company, integrated back-office legacy systems, processes and organisations
  • For a global reinsurance company, designed a back-office shared services model, gaining buy-in from country managers and the Group Executive
  • For the World Bank, designed a transfer-pricing framework for a hydroelectricity scheme in Africa, where one country was supplied the water and another the electricity.
  • For the World Bank advised on the financial management control framework for two Turkish state organisations, prior to privatisation
  • As an interim manager: Head of Finance for a major UK general and Health insurance company  

In addition to his client-focused career, Roger established the competency and training framework along with the communications network for the 3,000 strong PwC global Financial Management community
